Proudly Present! John's Mistress to be our guest band @ JRock No Tamashii '09.

About John's Mistress

John’s Mistress was formed in 1997 by the main lead vocalist Kon Hiro Fumi. Two years later, on March 13th 2000, they released their debut album, “They Stereotyped You Too?” which their hit single ‘Numb’ was met with enthusiasm and quickly climbed the local chart on 2 of the most popular radio stations at that time, hitz.fm and WOW.fm.

So catchy was the single that apparel-maker, Levi’s decided to use it as their theme song for their marketing campaign for The Levi’s 2000 Collection. Besides Numb, other tracks like ‘Boring Day’ ,‘Faraway’, and ‘First Sight’ also received good applause and were steadily climbing the local charts.

Soon enough, John’s Mistress began to grow in structure. They were invited to perform in numerous shows, namingly the hugely successful ‘Rock The World’ gigs and attended by a crowd of more than 10,000 people. Some of their most talk about show was Sunday Nite Live at Planet Hollywood,the G-string Affair At MCities Much Music and many More…

John’s Mistress was sponsored by Pepsi as well a Salem to be part of their campaign to promote their products. John’s Mistress’s popularity was further bloomed when Fumi, featured in the most talked about World Cup Hockey theme song, hosted by Malaysia in the year 2002.

In the year 2001, John’s Mistress was nominated for three awards in Anugerah Industri Musik 2001 (AIM 2001). And the awards were for Best New Artiste, Best English Album and Best Music Video.

To date, John’s Mistress had sold more than 5000 copies of their albums Malaysian wide.

After four years away from the local mainstream, John’s Mistress with their new line up is set to make a come back. The current line-up consists of Fumi the vocalist and guitarist, Jon Young the 2nd guitarist, Yuki the keyboardist, Arul the Basist and Arol the drummer. With them, John’s Mistress is set to storm the local music industry again.

Miniature Garden

Miniature Garden is no stranger to JRock fans since their performance in JRock Kingdom , 3, and 4,harajukiu night with the band name: Haze + Miniature Garden.

However, Stif, was invited to perform with Miniature Garden for Spirits of Music '09. Together, prepared to rock down the house!

Apart from that, Mage will be presenting another two of their original songs on that day itself!

Story About Mage

Mage started playing in college shows, prom nights, and some gigs. Few of them are just ok; others are just too empty to be considered as a gig, not to mention some are an EP launch. It’s a dead waste land they’re living in. Trees don’t grow here.

For better or worst, during that time their works can’t fit in nicely to any of the underground trend. “Why don’t we call the shots?”, slowly a new trend popping in the waste land. Moon decided to organize a series of on-going gig shows dedicated to Mage’s music roots, thus borne “J-rock Kingdom”. It then somehow gathered a number of audiences and friends along the way with their passion and captivating live performance.

Since then, Mage realized something is going on.

The Mage's style

Mage’s genre range from soft ballad to experimental, presented in a dark-visual image and gloomy manner, sarcasmly integrate with enchanted bliss in contrast. The band spell-crafted their works in mysterious way to indirectly express themselves, hoping to leaves trail along their journey by offer this gift, to whom ever wish to take. Their works is in both English and Chinese.

Mage will always have fun building the ship, and value the joy of sharing it with the people.

Kawaii Sakura

Kawaii Sakura, consisting of 5 sexy sakura petals, is the crazy, happy, energetic punk rock band from Malacca the historical city. They don't play by the rules, and play the music they love as hard and fast as they want.

The band was found by Mai who was seeking bandmates to play for the Games and Anime Comic Circle (GACC) in March of 2008. She initially thought of just playing guitar, but because of a lack of vocalists willing to memorize Japanese lyrics (apa boleh buat, Melaka is small...), Mai offered to sing in Japanese alongside playing lead guitar, without any Japanese language background. She still hopes to find a permanent ROCKING vocalist that has the energy to run around the stage and jump around like orang gila. The rest of the band consists of Jian (guitar), KinWee (bassist, replacing their ex-bassist Dong who went to further his studies in Australia), Ice (drums), and Zane (vocals and keyboard).

Why Kawaii Sakura? Is this name stupid? Is this name cute? Or is it cacat? Everyone has their own opinion & that's what they want. They want to prove that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover because despite the cutesy nooby name, Kawaii Sakura always kicks ass on stage!
Everyone will have different feelings watching Kawaii Sakura play but they will definitely be entertained. Some will like them, some will think they're weird, and some will even say they tipu. But those 5 crazy sakura petals don't care! All they want to do, is rock out and play the music they love.

Mai - Vocalist/Guitarist

Studying in MMU Malacca taking business admin majoring in Knowledge Management, is a skip class kaki but scores well in exam. Just started learning Nihon-go for the sake of the band. Works as a part time music teacher to earn extra income.

Artist for the band, expert in drawing manga. Helps the band in styling & makeup. Basically really really loves music. Is also a comic, anime and video game addicted nerd.

Jack Black was the main influence to start loving ROCK baby!! Music influences include: Fei Lun Hai, Green Day, Distillers, Blink 182, MCR, Radiohead, etc. Classical stuffs like Enya and Jacob De Hann. Guitarists Yngwie Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert.

Music genres : Punk rock, Blues, Pop, Metal, Classical... basically listen to everything and doesn't have particular genre that she hates.

Comment: stupid and fun to play with, but serious and fierce at times. No-nonsense when it comes to rocking out. Ambitious.

Jian - Guitarist

Studying in MMU Malacca, majoring in Electronics Engineering.

The 'happy fruit' and a crazy bandmate who always manages to cheer the other band members up. Also the unpaid hair stylist for the band.

Studies a lot and always pays full attention in class. Does revision and homework whenever he has spare time. Seriously, real one. Takde tipu.

Music influences includes: Green Day, the Pixies, the Ramones, My Chemical Romance, Weezer and F4. Learned to play guitar from Nirvana songs.

Fave guitarist - Slash & that long-hair dude from F4.

Music Genres : Kickass punk rock till I die.

Comment: Loud, funny, full of crap and naughty! But very very serious when it comes to girls. Addicted to shopping, internet & Facebook. Is much cuter in real life than he looks in pics T.T

KinWee - Bassist

Studying Form 6 in Malacca High school, taking physics.

Very tall, handsome, and charming. Is also a very clever guy known as a walking calculator, who always does very well in exams.

Has a Black belt in Tae-kwon-do and teaches people part-time, which makes him the official bodyguard for KS.

Music influences includes: Incubus, RHCP, bassists Victor Wooten and Flea.

Music genres : Funk, a bit of blues, alt-rock, post hardcore.

Comment: always act lansi but is really friendly once you get to know him. Too stingy to buy a tuner so always tunes his bass by ear. Single & VERY available.

Zane - Vocalist/Keyboardist

Studying in MMU Malacca, taking foundation in Management.

A mix-blooded half-Caucasian boy who is pakar in singing romantic chinese songs, which is why he is never single. Also plays part-time in a pub bands & cafés, and also is a businessman selling Dodol in Jonker Walk

Joined 8tv Superstar in year 2007 and managed to get through the qualifying round but got kicked out after that.

Has won medals for solo singing competitions. Found Mai and KinWee to play together in a band since high school and won medals for band and music competitions in Malacca.

Music influences: Loves Green Day a lot and thinks he looks like Billie Joe. He also likes Jacky Cheung, Michael Jackson, Mayday, MCR, and the Beatles.

Music genres : Punk Rock, Sentimental.

Comments: Very weird guy. Easily pissed off when he's hungry so be sure to keep him well-fed at all times. Or else, confirm die.

Ice Sensei - Drummer

Owns Ice Music Paradise music showroom, music school, jamming studio in Malacca.

Full-time music teacher and the music teacher and 'sifu' for all KS's other members.

Expert in kutuk-ing people. Also very good at telling grandmother stories dealing with human life that can touch your heart and make you cry.

Music influences: Milli Vanilli, Wang Chieh

Music genres: EVERYTHING

Comment: A mysterious and unlucky horny pervert. No one knows much about him except that he's a versatile musician who uses his skills to take advantage of young girls.

Endless Eternal

Endless Eternal is a Japanese pop rock band that formed on January 11, 2008 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Strawberry Jam

Strawberry Jam was founded by ian in 2004. Steven then joined to help out in the bass department and became the vocalist. Not long after, Jeremy joined and replaced as vocalist. Keong then was switched to became the guitarist and CY joined as drummer to complete the band.

Strawberry Jam mainly plays heavy metal. If it is not metal, it is not cool. We eat metal for breakfast everyday.

Strawberry Jam has so far played in 5 gigs and is continuing to spread the juice.

CY has then retired from the band till further notice because of his medical condition of his back. His last gig was Jrock Kingdom 4 with Strawberry Jam. Playing metal music that Strawberry Jam plays could worsen his medical condition so we respected his decision. (Last heard, he is still playing metal music with other bands)

After CY, Strawberry Jam has suspended all activities. Not long after that, we stole Edmund from miniature garden. All hope is not lost, we resumed activities and begin to spread the juice again!

Used to be a pro wrestler before started learning guitar at 17.

To be a pro wrestler was influenced by Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Hardy Boyz.

Famous for sleeping non stop 24hrs (a.k.a. sleeping king).

Likes jams especially strawberries.

Favorite band is Luna Sea.

Favorite color is black and red.

He is born to mix high grade strawberries and break guitar pedals.

Standing six feet tall and 300 pounds.

He is into heavy metal. No metal, no Steven.

Has been playing the bass since young. He is influenced by The Big Show.

Additional Info about the band:

“Strawberry” in English means the juicy, usually red, edible fruit of certain plants of the genus Fragaria. “Jam”, means press tightly together or cram in English. When you combine Strawberry Jam together, you get a combination of fruit and sugar cooked until the mixture has an intense flavor and thick consistency. We combined this names into one in to show that our music is explodingly delicious.

“We know you're all robots and we don't care! Strawberry Jam! We reign! Supreme, Oh, God! Burrito supreme, and a chicken supreme, and a cutlass supreme.”

Drako'Zen

Drako’Zen was founded by Reiki on June 2007. Ving was the second member to joined in, who Reiki happens to knew him thru a forum. Both of them happened to have the same interest on music and decided to start this band. Later the two brothers, Kim and Meo joined the band as guitarist and bassist while Ivan the drummer was the last to joined the band, who happens to be an old friend of Reiki’s.

Drako’Zen plays hardrock , heavy metal , nu-metal and rock ballad music. Their image is considered as Visual-Kei.

Reiki - Vocalist

Born in Perak but grew up in Shah Alam, fluent in Japanese language.

Fell in love with rock music influence by his favourite idol Bon Jovi.

He used to be a drummer before he became the vocalist.

His ex-band mates forced him to become the vocalist because he is fluent in Japanese and understand each line and the feeling of the song he sings. He also have the God gifted voice of a JRock vocalist should have.

Ving - Guitarist

Born in Kuala Lumpur, loves all kind of rock music, work as an animator designer.

He admires Steve Vai since high school and he used to be a drummer before he became the guitarist.

Into JRock because JRock is something totally different from western music, JRock can be hard or soft or a mixture of genres.

He have a dream and that is to becoming a professional guitarist.

Kim - Guitarist

Born in Kuala Lumpur and studying in a design college.

interest in JRock because of his influence by his favourite guitarist Hisashi from GLAY and Sugizo from LUNA SEA.

He is talented in composing

He is Meo’s elder brother.

Meo - Bassist

Born in Kuala Lumpur , Kim’s younger brother.

He is into hardcore and rock music.

He is influenced by his elder brother, Kim and fell in love with JRock.

He have a dream and that is to become a professional bass player.

Ivan - Drummer

Born in Johore Bahru, have a lot of experience in a band.

He used to teach drums in Johore Bahru Yamaha music school.

His favourite JRock band of all time is the one and only L’Arc~en~Ciel when he was in university.

He started playing the drums influence of his favourite L’Arc~en~Ciel member Yukihiro.

Even thought his the drummer, he have a lot of knowledge on sound effects.

“Drako” means Dragon in Greece language, but in Chinese, Dragon is a good charm of an animal. “Drako” can put into two categories, that is the good and the evil. “Zen”, means Buddha in Japanese. We combined this names into one in order to show that our music can be good and evil .

Flicked Mind

Flicked Mind, founded by Yuki in June 2007 was named after her wrong pronunciation of the word "flicker" and her frequently changing of working styles and ideas.

Flicked Mind decided to become a tribute band to Tokyo Jihen when members who appreciate the non-conventions and individuality, Choy (bassist), Selphie (keyboardist), Fizi (Guitarist) joined the band. In other words, weird, but nice songs will normally in the list.

Completed her Bachelor (Hons.) Classical music programme in UCSI.

Took up classical voice and piano in Uni.

Although she's graduated from classical field, her intense passion in singing for band is overwhelming.

Selphie - Keyboardist

Involved playing as Solo pianist in Lounge; Session keyboardist for private funstions and events.

Adaptable towards Jazz, Folk and Classical, minoring in Compositions.

Completed Bachelor (Hons.) Contemporary Music Programme in 2008.

Fizi - Guitarist

Before playing JRock music, Flicked Mind is an English pop band that focus on producing their original songs.

The line up of Flicked MInd has been changing frequently since Sept. 2007 and Yuki spent over 7-months looking for a permanent drummer, and were glad to have Gerald to be their drummer from now on.

GEMINI the band

GEMINI is a 5-member KL-based rock band consist of Lina on vocals, Adam and Syuk on guitars, Adzim on bass and Firdaus on drums.

GEMINI was brought together by the members' love for Japanese rock. Their influences includes - but not limited to - rock, modern rock, metal, funk and jazz. We're always looking for new sounds.

Adam Yusof - Guitarist

Studying in UiTM Malacca, taking Diploma in Communication & Media.

He looks up to various guitarists for influence such as Miya (MUCC), Ken (L'arc~en~Ciel) and his all-time hero is Paul Gilbert.

His music genres include classic rock and metal.

Khairul Syukri Ridzuan - Guitarist

Studying in UiTM Perak, taking Diploma in Computer Science.

MUCC was his main reason for wanting to have a band.

Plays guitar in a band called Dahlia By the Stairs in Perak.

Music genres include rock, funk and jazz and listens to bands such as MUCC, ACIDMAN and Tokyo Jihen.

Adzim Ezani - Bassist

Studying in UiTM Malacca, taking Diploma in Communication & Media.

Likes classic Japanese rock such as Luna Sea and X Japan and visual kei.

One of the founding members of Grave~en~Crie/GEMINI the band.

Firdaus Zulkipli - Drummer

Studying in UiTM Perak, taking Diploma in Computer Science.

Plays guitar in a band called Dahlia By the Stairs in Perak with Khairul.

Additional Info about the band:

GEMINI the band was previously known as Grave~en~Crie for 2 years. Adzim and Firdaus started the band with another friend Azfar as the vocalist. Adzim knew Adam from university and recruited him as the guitarist. Firdaus knew Khairul from university and recruited him as the 2nd guitarist.

In mid 2008, Azfar left the band to concentrate on his other band - a hardcore band called Saloma. They then decided to recruit Lina whom Adam and Adzim knew from university. Their first gig was on 28th June 2008 at Paul's Place.

Soon after that, realizing Grave~en~Crie was a bit too much for most mouths to utter, the band changed their name to GEMINI the band, or simply GEMINI.
