Rocking & Busking - 15th October 2008

Endless Eternal
The first band that started the performance on that night was Endless Eternal band. This young Japanese band really shown the crowd the spirits and dynamism of youngsters. (This is the first time vocalist, Haoto wore dress.)

Apple Juice
Another pop rock band formed by youngters that rocked down the house with 4 of their original songs and a cover song by Sarah Bareilles. Lynn the vocalist can dance very well!

Strawberry Jam
Strawberry Jam is not a stranger to Jrock fans who attended Jrock Kingdom 4 gig few months ago. Do not be deceived by their name ~ their powerful metal songs sent lots of audiences to the pit zone and headbanged together!

Miliz
Miliz is an experience local band that performed all their original songs that night. Their songs were enjoyable, despite the faulty of the mic that did not function very well for the classical guitar and voilin.

Beat The System
Beat the System is a well-known local band that plays fusion of numetal and rapcore. From the sound of it you can kind of imagine how the players jumped and bounced on stage right?

Maddog & Jojo
This band was form 3-4 weeks before this gig, the members were mixed from two bands: Bouncing Asian and Miniature Garden. David, the guitarist's guitar string snapped during the middle of the first song but still, he managed to finish off the whole song.

Symphonia
Symphonia is another experience local band that played lots of enjoyable and pleasant songs.

Psycho Anthem
Perhaps Psycho Anthem's biggest attraction is the guy who can sing and plays virtuosic guitar and of course his machine gun solos were incredible. His name is Mario and he is the organizer of Rocking and Busking.

Unfortunately, we are unable to get the photos of the bands RADE and LANG but undoubtly they gave a good performance that night.

RADE played all their originals songs that night. Rocking and Busking would like to thank RADE for willing to spend a few hours there and to perform despite their finals for YAMAHA ASIAN BEAT competition the next day.

LANG ended the gig with powerful heavy metal chinese songs. Although the vocalist Loke waited for 8 hours to perform on stage, he was still able to groan and scream on stage and the band did gave the audiences a good show on that night.

Some candid shots during the gig :D

SCREAM Halloween Party, Sunway Lagoon

SCREAM! Halloween Party in Sunway Lagoon's Elephant Walk on 31st October was a blast! Thanks to Gerald (drummer of the band - Beat the System) for giving invitations to Spirits of Music to attend the biggest Halloween party ever in Malaysia!

The event successfully attracted over 1000 crowd and it was surprising to see how supportive Malaysians were towards such event since this is the first time it was organized. Lots of people actually took a great deal of effort to dress up as ghosts (or whatever it is) and walked around scaring people.

* pics: Awesome make ups and dressing!

There were a few booths by the side of the lake, including Southern Comfort, the sponsored drink for SCREAM.

* pics (clockwise): a: One of the booths was selling Halloween food. The bloody fingers cookies were actually quite tasty! b & c: Scary masks and Halloween merchandizes sold in one of the booths. d: some people bought the mask and wore it on the spot.

* pics (clockwise): a: Y2K band performing. b: Beat the System’s vocalist, Sam mingling with the crowd. c: Crowd (view from tower) d: Guitarist from Y2K.

Some of the ghosts~

* pics (clockwise): a: Chinese zombie? The lady zombie was the winner for best costume competition. b: There’s even a local ghost, Pocong. He was the winner for best costume competition too. d: Doctor and nurse from The Dentist? Can u believe that the costumes and the hats were made by the nurse herself?

* pics: Captain Jack Sparrow’s costume is awesome!

* pics (clockwise): a: Bassist Hazard from Beat the System. Sitting on the edge so that the crowd can see his face. b: Sam c: Beat the System

*pics (clockwise): a: The crowd danced the night away when DJ Joey G. was in the house. c: Spotted the Chinese zombie? d: Raven was there too!

Overall the event was fantastic and the crowd was remarkable! People who attended the party were incredibly friendly and everyone just mixed around regardless race and age. However, the only flaw for the event is that the bands were playing on top on the tower, which was not visible to the crowd. Therefore, the crowd can only see the vocalist, bassist and guitarist of the band, the drummer was out of the view. So it’s a bit like listening to CDs instead of live because you can’t actually see the bands performing in front of you.

Updates: Rules and Regulations for audition!

Due to some confusion about the Rules and Regulations for audition, we have made some changes and hopefully we have made ourselves clear of what we are expecting for the audition.
