The Competition will be conducted in three stages i.e.
Qualifying Round ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
• Qualifying round before a panel of judges.
• Candidates are required to play a Designated Piece whichhas to be recorded in the form of VCD/DVD (the Recording capture should be WRIST UPWARDS) and submit to:

• The Designated piece for Qualifying round is SONS DE CARILHÕES (MAXIXE-CHÔRO) by João Pernambuco
• Application must be submitted before 15/4/09.
• Registration fees (RM30) should be submitted together with the application form.
• The Semi-final name list will be announced on 22/4/09 via E-mail, SMS, phone call, or through the Guitar Collection Website. The name list will also be displayed at all Guitar Collection outlets.
Semi-Final Round ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
• A Semi-final round involving 25 candidates will be selected from the Qualifying round who will perform for a panel of judges and the public on 27/6/09 at SJKC Yuk Chai (morning session).
• Semi-finalists are required to play One designated piece and One self-select piece.
• Each candidate will be limited to 7 minutes total playing time in the semi-final.
• The Designated Piece for semi-final is Mauro Giuliani 24 Etudes OP.48 NO.9 (Presto)
• Semi-finalist should make the second payment (RM100) before 29/4/09. Proof of payment can be sent to tang@guitarcollection.com.my or fax to 03-7727 2057. The payment of RM100 for the semi-finalists includes buffet lunch on the Competition date (27/6/09), and 1 ticket for the Philip Hii Concert 2009 to be held on 28/6/09 in Matic Hall, Kuala Lumpur.
• RM30 /ticket for Audience of Semi-final & Final (Buffet lunch included).
Final Round ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
• A Final-round of 8 finalists to perform for a panel of judges and the public on 27/6/09 at
SJKC Yuk Chai (Afternoon session).
• Candidates are required to play a Self-Select piece that is not longer than 10 minuets.
• The performance order will be determined by a random draw on the spot after the results are announced.

Competition Rules and Regulations:
• The competition is open to all Guitarists regardless of age & nationality. Professional guitarists are not eligible to participate.
• Judging will be based on Technique Efficiency, Music Interpretation, and overall Stage Presentation.
• All the Performance of the designated piece and free choice piece must be memorized.
• All Entrants must perform repertoire on Nylon String Classical-type Guitar ONLY.
• The Competition is strictly for Classical guitar repertoire. (Flamenco, Re-arrangement of popular songs, or folk songs are not acceptable).
• Pieces played in the semi-final round cannot be repeated in the Final Round.
• The Pieces (photocopy) must be attached to the application form.
• If the time limit is exceeded, the Judges may cut off the performance.
• All the payment is not refundable.
• The order of presentation for semi-finalists will be determined by a random draw.
• The decision of the judges and organizer will be final.
• Payment can be Cash (walk-in submit), Bank transfer, ATM Deposit, Bank Cheque, Wang Pos and bank draft.
• All payment should be made payable to Guitar Collection Sdn Bhd
• For account transfer and deposit, please bank in to
Public Bank Berhad (PBB) 3091-4957-19 (Guitar Collection Sdn Bhd),
and attach the bank-in slip as proof of payment.
• The Organizer has the rights to disqualify the semi-finalist if payment is not made before the due date.
