Flicked Mind @ JRock No Tamashii '09

The fifth band that performed that night was a Tokyo Jihen's tribute band - Flicked Mind.

The crowd were cheering madly for their drummer Omar when they were doing setting on stage before they performed. According to Omar, this is the first time he got in touch with Japanese songs, and it was fun!



Never thought that an instrument that you played when you were in primary school can be used to play in a band? Pianica sure spiced up the song!



They performed altogether 6 songs from the band Tokyo Jihen, which includes a few famous tracks including OSCA, Marunouchi Sadistic and Shuraba.



Flicked Mind planned to release their new song "I will fly" soon, together with new arrangements of their other original songs "Radio" and "Mum I'm Sorry".

Flicked Mind

Flicked Mind, founded by Yuki in June 2007 was named after her wrong pronunciation of the word "flicker" and her frequently changing of working styles and ideas.

Flicked Mind decided to become a tribute band to Tokyo Jihen when members who appreciate the non-conventions and individuality, Choy (bassist), Selphie (keyboardist), Fizi (Guitarist) joined the band. In other words, weird, but nice songs will normally in the list.

Yuki - Vocalist

Completed her Bachelor (Hons.) Classical music programme in UCSI.

Took up classical voice and piano in Uni.

Although she's graduated from classical field, her intense passion in singing for band is overwhelming.

Great influences: Ben Folds Five, Shiina Ringo, Avril Lavigne, Eisley, Judy N Mary etc.

Selphie - Keyboardist

Involved playing as Solo pianist in Lounge; Session keyboardist for private funstions and events.

Adaptable towards Jazz, Folk and Classical, minoring in Compositions.

Completed Bachelor (Hons.) Contemporary Music Programme in 2008.

Fizi - Guitarist

Students of Ocean College

Taking Audio Engineering course

Started to play guitar since 13 years old

My Guitar teacher is the greatest influence

Choy Wee Chou - Bassist

played bass for 10 years.

Influence: blue, jazz, funk, and rock music. player influences. victor wooten, deep purple, bill dicken. etc

Additional Info about the band:

Before playing JRock music, Flicked Mind is an English pop band that focus on producing their original songs.

The line up of Flicked MInd has been changing frequently since Sept. 2007 and Yuki spent over 7-months looking for a permanent drummer, and were glad to have Gerald to be their drummer from now on.

p/s: They used to be a tribute band to Judy and Mary :p
